Dear Town Resident,
We all are in the midst of storm preparations for what they say will be a blizzard of historic proportion. The Towns Public Works and Public Safety personnel have been in storm preparation mode for several days and will need all our support as they work in what will be very difficult conditions. Predictions are for hurricane strength winds and snow falling at the rate of four inches and hour during its peak. While we will work throughout the storm our first priority as should be yours is for the safety of our employees and residents. Please during the peak of the storm which is from 9:00 pm tonight to 9:00 pm tomorrow night stay off the roads and let our crews have an opportunity to do their job without having to worry about traffic and pedestrians. Visibility will be extremely difficult and there may be downed wires and branches which is more reason for the public to stay indoors until the storm is over and we have had a chance to assess and address conditions. Some obvious things:
Remove vehicles from the street
Clear fire hydrants in front of your home
Remove snow from your vehicles before driving
Do not plow or blow snow into the street
If you have a true medical emergency call 911
Be prepared for power outages
If you lose power use flashlights rather than candles
Have at least three days’ supply of food and water for both you and your pets
Most important use care when removing snow, if possible do it in increments rather than waiting to the storm is over

Additional Closings may occur throughout the week depending on the severity of the storm. Announcements will be made via eblast, facebook, twitter, everbridge system and newspapers.
As always I and other Town employees appreciate your support during these storm events. Just keep in mind six weeks until spring and hopefully we will look back and this will not be as bad as predicted. Stay safe and warm over the next several days.
